Thursday, October 9th at Heathcotes Brasserie

Diners will enjoy a Champagne and canapé reception, followed by a four course dinner, wine, coffee and petit fours. This special menu will be carefully crafted by all five chefs together, with each leading on a course. There will be an exciting auction and raffle, with some fantastic lots to bid for.

Tickets for the evening are to be sold at £65 per person.

Paul Heathcote MBE will host the event and will interview each chef on stage during the evening. The event has been generously sponsored by Boutinot Wines and Wenlock Spring.

Paul Heathcote says: “Hospitality Action is a charity close to my heart just as the industry is and working with industry personalities such as Andrew Nutter and Antony is going to be just right – it will be a heart warming evening full of great food. We’re expecting tickets for this event to be in high demand so I’d advise booking as soon as possible in order to secure a place!”

Hospitality Action is the trade charity offering a crucial lifeline to people of all ages, working and retired, from the hospitality industry. Whether we’re approached by a chef, chambermaid, school cook or bar staff, Hospitality Action will endeavour to support, whatever the difficulty.

The chefs

Paul Heathcote MBE

Paul Heathcote, MBE, is still the only chef in the North West to be awarded two Michelin Stars. His credentials and awards are many; Egon Ronay Chef of the Year, a triple Catey Winner (Caterer’s Oscar) and 20 years of 3 & 4 AA Rosettes. Author of two books, ‘Rhubarb & Blackpudding’ and ‘Heathcotes at Home’.

Owner of two restaurants – Heathcotes Brasserie and the Olive Press in Preston. He also leads the Heathcote & Co team at the home of Bolton Wanderers FC & Whites Hotel. Besides numerous TV appearances and magazine features he is also a Patron of industry charity Hospitality Action.

Andrew Nutter

Andrew is the chef at his family restaurant, Nutters. At the age of thirteen, Andrew was runner-up in the National Junior Cook of the Year Award and a finalist in the Daily Mail Cook of the Year. When he was only 21 years old, Nutters was launched and received much accolade.

Andrew hit the big time when he turned up at the awards dinner with NUTTER shaved into the back of his head. TV companies took interest and soon he was making appearances on Ready Steady Cook, Afternoon Live, and his own Channel 5 series Utter Nutter.

Carl Noller

Carl has been working with Paul for 8 years. His previous experience over a 20 year career in cooking includes stints at the Chester Grosvener Hotel and Gordan Ramsay’s two Michelin star Aubergine restaurant before joining the Heathcotes family and becoming head chef Heathcotes Brasserie and The Olive Press Preston. He features next month in the North West Relish Cookbook and his dessert was chosen for the front cover.

Debbie Halls-Evan

After nine weeks of fiery cookery challenges, blind-taste eliminations and pressure- cooker tension, deli-owner Debbie Halls-Evans from Bolton has triumphed as winner of The Taste – the high stakes cookery competition, which saw multi-award winning food writer and TV cook Nigella Lawson and fellow mentors laconic American writer Anthony Bourdain and fiery Frenchman Ludo Lefebvre search for the most naturally gifted cook in the country.

She impressed early on after winning the first challenge set by legendary guest chef Pierre Koffman with her Prawn Toast. Following Nigella’s announcement that Debbie, who has had no formal training, had won, she said “I’m amazed. Absolutely and utterly amazed – blown away. Ludo has taught me so many fundamental elements of cooking. I can’t thank him enough – he’s done a sterling job with me.”

Anthony Shirley

Antony Shirley is executive chef of the Seafood Pub Company which operates award-winning, seafood-led gastro pubs – The Oyster & Otter, on the outskirts of Blackburn, The Assheton Arms at Downham in the Ribble Valley, The Fenwick in the Lune Valley village of Claughton, near Lancaster, and The Farmer’s Arms at Great Eccleston near Preston.

Antony is a former sous chef at Harvey Nichols in Knightsbridge, head chef at Panacea in Manchester and at Raffles in the West Indies. He was instrumental in setting up and opening the first Piccolinos restaurant and later served as their UK development chef.
